Although Nexton is a gorgeous little village on its own, the town’s location puts it in easy proximity to many of Summerville’s most scenic spots.

For those who enjoy fine dining, the renowned steak house, Halls Chophouse, has one of its four locations in a beautiful spot right in the heart of Nexton Square. Poogan’s Southern Kitchen first opened in 1976 as “Poogan’s Porch,” and has since become a familiar staple of Southern cuisine for all of Charleston, and remains one of the city’s most popular eateries. Here, you’ll find all the best and most authentic Southern entrees. While the fish tacos at Taco Boy are already famous among Nexton locals, visitors can enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine at this hip restaurant indoors, outdoors, or at the bar year-round.
Nexton also offers unique shopping experiences for visitors, featuring many locally-owned shops and boutiques. For example, Southern Cuties Boutique specializes in local styles of outdoor and activewear, as well as playful accessories with Southern charm. Throughout Nexton Square, you’ll also find stores and boutiques for men, women, and children alike. At one of Nexton’s most popular gift shops, Simple to Sublime, you can browse through the many fun and unique items, including clothing, housewares, and locally themed collectibles. Things to Do
Nexton is a growing community and its place within Summerville guarantees tons of fun community events throughout the year. Since 1973, the Flowertown Festival has been hosted by the local YMCA for various health and wellness programs. As a spring event, Nexton visitors can walk among the white dogwood and purple wisteria plants as they enjoy the three-day weekend arts and crafts festival.
As the winter months approach, Nexton readies itself for the Cocoa Cup, a 5K run raising money for different charities every December. Beginning at the Brown Family Park at Nexton, runners head out on the scenic course with thousands of others, then head back for hot cocoa, a holiday costume contest, and even an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Residents of Nexton aren’t the only ones to have recognized the scenic charm of their modern village. HGTV featured the town on its hit reality competition show, HGTV Rock the Block. Of course, at the heart of the community is Nexton Square, which serves as the community’s hub for both the shopping and restaurant areas and the financial district.
